Energy Conservation &
Sustainable Building Code
(ECSBC)
(For Commercial & Office Buildings)
Objective
The Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) establishes energy performance standards for various building components while considering different climatic zones across India. By implementing these standards, buildings can significantly reduce energy consumption without compromising occupant comfort, health, productivity, or overall functionality.
To strengthen energy-efficient building practices, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) introduced the updated ECSBC 2017 on 19 June 2017. The revised code is designed to be practical, future-ready, and easy to implement. It encourages both public and private sector organizations not only to comply with the minimum ECSBC requirements but also to achieve higher levels of energy performance. The long-term success of ECSBC depends on the active collaboration of policymakers, developers, architects, engineers, builders, and other stakeholders in its adoption and implementation.
